All pom measurements consist of the strand length and width. 
The strand length is measured from where the strands come out
of the handle (or in the case of cheerballs, from the center of the pom).  Strand length is simply the width of a single pom strand.

THE RULE OF THUMB WITH POMS IS SIMPLE....THE SHORTER & WIDER THE STRANDS, THE LESS MOVEMENT THEY WILL HAVE.  THE LONGER AND THINNER THE STRANDS ARE, THE MORE MOVEMENT THEY WILL HAVE!
